CASES – The case authority store – is the official U.S. reseller of Piel Frama cases. Our cases are stored (in a temperature controlled warehouse) locally for convenience and quick shipping! Each Piel Frama case passes strict quality control requirements and is expertly hand-made by a skilled leather craftsman. Piel Frama specializes in producing luxurious, beautiful, soft, leather-cushioned cases specifically designed for mobile devices. Customize your device with a stunning Piel Frama case, choosing from many vibrant colors on either a standard leather canvas, or an exotic ostrich or crocodile texture.
The beauty flows directly from the design. The flap design allows full access to the audio jack and lightning connection. The speakers are covered by perforated leather. Yes you must fold back a leather flap and hold it when using the phone and the flap does get in the way when taking pictures. However, the face of the iPhone is fully protected at all other times. The cover gives a clean and finished look to the iPhone that “holsters” and sliders can’t match. Take the time to look closely at the alternatives, which I did, and you’ll see what I mean. (I don’t suggest you buy four others which I also did.) The competitors are generally either plastic or crafted from lower quality leather. Their designs are mostly pedestrian and the iPhone is generally hard to get to when you need it. Grasping a $500 product with two fingers and flipping it around quickly to answer a call always made me feel uncomfortable.
All of which brings me to the Piel Frama solution – the belt clip. Over the years I have tried many holster and belt clip cases. I always find the Piel Frama connection to be the best. The clip allows the iPhone to swing freely and yet remain securely attached to the belt clip and the belt clip remains securely attached to your belt – in all postures. (Gentlemen experiencing expanding prosperity know what I’m talking about.) Despite the solid connections between iPhone, clip and belt, with a push of the thumb the iPhone is released into your hand and can be grasped firmly. You will not drop the iPhone! When your done, the iPhone slides back onto the clip with a reassuring click.
The button on the back of the case which makes the hole system work does come with tradeoffs. It keeps you from being able to fold the flap flat against the back of the case making the iPhone larger in your hand then you might expect. The button also leaves an imperceptible indent in the padded leather front of the flap. Also, to lay the iPhone flat, you must place it facedown on a table or desk. I have not found these tradeoffs to be burdensome. However, Piel Frama’s design allows you to remove the button should you wish to slide the iPhone into your jeans for weekends or, God forbid, business meetings in jeans.
All in all, an expensive leather case that is worth every dollar or euro.
I have three cards in mine and one bill (emergency cash!) It all fits without being bulky. I could likely get one more card and two more bills before the magnetic closure wouldn’t hold. It holds perfectly as I described my usage.
The color isn’t as hot pink as the picture looks, more of a fuschia (a bright berry pink)… borderline hot pink, but a wee bit darker.
The leather is uber soft all over. Even with cards, etc the case doesn’t bulk up my little iPhone 5 too much, and now I have a gorgeous case and wallet together.
I coveted my husband’s BookBook, but didn’t think it was feminine enough. This case (being the color pink) is. The case comes in almost a dozen colors… if pink isn’t your thing
- Fits the iPhone and its ports perfectly
- Offers enough space for up to three cards and one bill without being bulky
- Softest leather found on any case
- Full coverage case
- Gorgeous full-dyed color
Cons? It is expensive, but well made (in Spain) and custom for the iPhone 5.
Comes is a nice box for gift-giving too.
Update on the white — As I feared, the white is very difficult to keep clean. After using for a few months, it has gotten rather dingy looking — like an old pair of tennis shoes. I prefer the other colors such as black or red which hide the everyday grime better.
When I purchased my iPhone 5 from the Apple store, I had heard enough about scuff gate that I didn’t want to leave the store without a case. I picked the Twelve South BookBook for iPhone 5, All-in-one leather iPhone case and wallet, Classic Black because of the classic appearance and the security with which it held my iPhone. I liked the clean way the phone fit in so that you could and touch the entire front of the screen without overlapping leather.
It smells good (which sounds wierd) — like good quality leather and I like the way it provides a window for a driver’s licenses and could very easily see using it as a stand-alone wallet (except that if I misplace my phone — then I’m in double trouble because all my ID and credit cards are with it!).
To make a call, the cover folds back on itself which is a little cumbersome but not awful.
However, I ultimately went with Piel Frama Leather case for a few reasons:
1. The Piel Frama has more padding and therefore, I feel more protection if dropped.
2. The Piel Frama has a magnetic closure so when you close the case, it stays closed — the BookBook tends to stay “half-opened” — sort of like a real paperback book.
3. The Piel Frama provides better protection to the front of the phone since the phone slides into it rather than “snaps”.
I actually prefer the look of the BookBook better but ultimately, felt that the Peil Frama provided better all-around protection.
Almost three years ago I bought a Piel Frama case for my iPhone3. It lived in my jeans pocket the entire time without any noticeable degradation of fit or finish. I wear jeans or cargo shorts almost exclusively, and the only “care” the case received was to not put it in the same pocket with coins or keys.
I just this moment received a Piel Frama 595 Black Crocodile Magnetic Leather Case for Apple iPhone 5. I bought a plain leather case, not croc.
It has the same beautiful leather as my old case. It fits the iPhone5 very snugly. Beautiful! I look forward to it being very happy in my pocket.
Not-so-beautiful: the metal fitting to receive a screw for a clip, or a screw-in flat metal cover, bulges the back. I hope it doesn’t ding or crack the back of the phone. I look forward to the cover, which protrudes just a bitsy, becoming lost in the near future.
I recommend, highly even. Just have to put up with a couple minor flaws… Don’t put it next to credit cards, either.
[Stupid Amazon review system... it asked me to review the case I bought, but there isn't a proper "insert a product link" to the thing I bought!]. I got a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AL3RL/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title.
